Everything from its recipe to its hexagon shaped bottle dates back to 1849 when founder Alfred Lamb starting making a premium style rum for British Royal Navy. Instead of using sugar beets Mr.Lamb fought to make his rum from sugar cane. The result is a smooth rum with a complex blend of sweet island spice and molasses with subtle oak flavour. As for the unique shape of the bottle, that was to prevent the bottle from rolling off the tables of the ships and could be stacked for better storage which meant the sailors could pack more on board.
